Lafayette, Louisiana is one of the best places in the world and this festival is one of the world's best music festivals. We're talking the heart of French-speaking Acadiana, world center of zydeco and cajun music. The festival is run entirely by volunteers and brings in francophone musicians from all over the world: African, Caribbean, European, American. I spent days eating great food, listening to great music, meeting great people in Lafayette - now home to a lot of displaced New Orleans musicians who finally realized that Lafayette is really where it's at.
